Our hair transplant practice is very different: In the unlikely setting of beautiful Saratoga Springs, New York, a small historic town of 25,000 in upstate New York, we have been offering state-of–the-art hair restoration surgery since 1989. Over the years our practice has gained a world-wide reputation and attracted patients from almost every state in the U.S. and a large number of foreign countries.

Close Up

The relationship between Dr. Michael Beehner and each one of his patients is a very personal one. Each patient is treated as a unique individual. Doctor Beehner personally conducts each consultation, and performs each hair transplant procedure in an unhurried manner, one at a time, with no other distractions. The results from this approach have been extremely high patient satisfaction and an international reputation for excellence. Michael Beehner, M.D. is one of the leading innovators, teachers, and researchers in the field of hair restoration surgery, and is a recent winner of the prestigious Platinum Follicle Award from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery for the world’s best research in the field of hair restoration surgery. He is the co-editor of the Hair Transplant Forum International, the main journal of hair transplant surgery in the world, and was chosen by the Discovery Channel for a recent cosmetic surgery special on hair transplantation. Furthermore, he is the author of the nomenclature system used by doctors worldwide to name the zones and landmarks of the balding scalp, and the author of two chapters in Dr. Walter Unger's new textbook, Hair Transplantation (4th edition).

We are also proud to announce that as of October 2006, Christopher Pawlinga, M.D. has been added to our staff as an associate surgeon. Dr. Pawlinga completed a rigorous one year ISHRS Fellowship in hair restoration surgery and will be operating each Monday and Thursday. He will also be conducting consultations in Saratoga, Syracuse, and Newburgh.

What drives Dr. Beehner and his entire staff, quite simply, is excellence. We take great pride in our work and strive to have all of our patients be satisfied with their hair transplant results. We try very hard to match the realistic expectations of our patients with what we can actually achieve. Before any surgery is ever scheduled, Dr. Beehner always makes certain that a strong sense of mutual trust exists between himself and the patient. We want each patient to have the utmost confidence in their hair transplant surgeon as an “artist” to whom he or she is entrusting the creation of his or her head of hair, which they will live with for the rest of their life.

Regarding what types of grafts are to be used, we are not “locked in” or programmed to do hair transplantation with only one narrowly defined method, but rather offer to each patient both the “all follicular-unit” graft method and the “combination grafting” (70-80% FU’s and 20-30% small minigrafts) approach. Each method has its own particular advantages and disadvantages, and these are carefully reviewed with each patient, along with our recommendation for his or her unique set of circumstances. Besides transplanting males with thinning hair, our practice greatly enjoys the challenge of corrective surgery, transplanting females, and those seeking eyebrow transplants.

If you would like to read further about a very different hair transplant practice, simply select the topics here that are of interest to you. We are also happy to send you our new color brochure and recent newsletter, which give a little better picture of our practice and our results than even this website is able to do. Of course, the best way for you to see how we're different is to come in for a free consultation. You are also welcome to e-mail specific questions to Dr. Beehner at mlbeehner@spa.net , and he will get back to you in a timely manner. We wish you the best in your search to determine which physician and hair restoration plan is best for you as an individual.
