Dr. Beehner resides in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. with his wife Harrilyn. They have been married 38 years and have four grown children and three grandchildren. Harrilyn serves as the office manager for the practice. Dr. Beehner’s interests outside of medicine include playing baseball (plays a week every January with the Chicago Cubs in Arizona), running (41 marathons in total, including Boston 13 times), stamp collecting, playing guitar and harmonica, and prison ministry with the Catholic R.E.C. Program.

- 2000, Recipient of the 2000 Research Award Grant in Hawaii by the ISHRS, for a 3-year study on the differences between scalp zones transplanted with both minigrafts and FU’s, and comparing “limited-depth” sites with full-depth ones.
- 2002, Recipient of the 2002 Research Award Grant in Chicago by the ISHRS, for a study comparing a one-layer and two-layer closure method for repairing the donor area.
